This tropical green smoothie was inspired by my favorite Green and Glowing Smoothie from Whole Foods. It’s packed with vitamin-C, Omega-3, and leafy greens. This green smoothie my look bright green, but it doesn’t take like veggies at all.

The weather has suddenly warmed up and I’m feeling like spring is near. I’m feeling myself emerge from a bit of a winter hibernation, where my workouts slowed down and my green smoothie consumption all but disappeared. But times are changing! This week I hopped into my gym shorts and it felt so good to get back to my daily runner’s high.

When a Whole Foods opened in town a few years ago I was beyond excited. One of things that makes shopping there so fun (and pricey) is that I can grab a latte or smoothie and enjoy it while I shop! It feels like such luxury when the days of shopping with a crying toddler are not so far in the past. The Green and Glowing smoothie from our Whole Foods juice bar quickly became my favorite treat. It has a sweet but not too sweet taste with tropical flavors from pineapple, mango, and coconut. It’s loaded with vitamin-C rich fruit, Omega-3 from flax, which is so important for our brains, a little healthy fat from the coconut, and of course a good serving of leafy greens. If you aren’t a green smoothie fan yet, this is a great one to begin with. Although the color is bright green, I can’t taste the spinach in this smoothie at all. Since I can’t always get over to the juice bar for a Green and Glowing smoothie on the go, I decided to make my own version at home.

If you like prep-ahead recipes, this green smoothie works perfectly. Just place all the ingredients for each smoothie (except liquid) in plastic freezer bags. When you’re in the mood for a smoothie all you’ll need to do is dump the ingredients from the bag into the blender with the liquid. I used quart-sized canning jars here, which also works but is slightly harder to get the frozen fruit out of and can break, obviously.

I’m so happy to get back into my daily green smoothie routine. I truly feel that I don’t get colds when I drink them frequently. I hope you’ll try this favorite green smoothie and let me know what you think. I know it will become your favorite too. Tag me over on Instagram so I can see!
