Easter Brunch: A Peeps Regatta
Are you ready for Easter? Our Easter Bunny still has some preparing to do and could use some suggestions for basket fillings. Our preschool was on Spring Break last week. Please tell me why a 4 year old needs a Spring Break. Does she need to go to Cancun? Is playing in the sandbox three mornings a week too stressful? I think not, and it’s rather inconvenient for an Easter Bunny who does not have a minute alone to shop for basket fillings. Oh, and said Bunny would also really love a shower alone. Just saying. In all honesty, I am glad the teachers get that break. They have a tough and under appreciated job.
What are your favorite Easter basket fillers? I like to stay away from candy in favor of things like markers and stickers.
Last year we were lucky enough to be invited to an Annual Peeps Regatta hosted by my friend, The Southern Belle in Santa Barbara. This is my absolute favorite Easter party idea. It’s relaxed, fun, and elegant all at the same time. Perfection.
My friend, Ronda, brought this adorable pineapple bunny fruit platter.
Mimosas, tulips, and Peeps: Easter must-haves.
Homemade banana and zucchini bread in the sunshine by the pool. Heaven.
Delicious spread of Easter foods.
I loved this salad with green beans and potatoes.
A strata is perfect for brunch and can be prepared ahead of time.
Racers, start your Peeps…
Go!
It was a close race, but there could only be one winner. I’ll let you know if one sweet 4 year old can hold the title of Peeps Regatta winner.
Festive party favors. Pastel M&Ms in cute boxes.
Do you celebrate Easter? What are your traditions?
If you have a pool, go get some Peeps and hold your own regatta.
Happy Easter!
cute idea…. we have not done that but perhaps this year 🙂 we always host a big egg hunt with mimosas and brunch… I'm studying Ronda's pineapple bunny, I need to try that for sure!
Wonderful pics, yes we'll be having a traditional lamb dinner next Sunday.
Ah, if only we had a pool!
Cute post and adorable pictures. Looks like a lot of fun and the food looks amazing! I would love some of the zucchini bread!
A regatta is such a fun idea for kids, I also loved the pineapple fruit platter! We usually have an Easter egg hunt which was also my favourite as a kid, and if we're lucky (and organised), an Easter bonnet contest. I don't like candies for kids' treats either and I've just discovered the wonders of homemade marshmallow, so I suggest you try that some time. I've used recipes & tips from Sweetapolita, Stella from Brave Tart and Shauna Sever, the result is heaven, they're easy to make and you can cut them out into any shape. Happy Easter!
I made marshmallows into sparkly fairy wands a few months ago – loved them:

Love the regatta idea, Marina! We're breaking away from our traditional Easter dinner this year and having a salad buffet instead. Much easier to do advance preparation that way! Have a great Easter with your beautiful family.

Loooove you joking. About preschool! My son, in PreK, is on spring break, too, and I've had the same thoughts!
Marina,
None of our “peeps” are little ones any more, pun intended. Still, the adopt children would, most probably, love the peeps regatta. Such a cute idea. We used to fill baskets with baseball cards, transformers, books…can you tell we had boys?!
Have a wonderful Easter.

Oh, yes, I remember I didn't tried yours because my little boy isn't too much into magic wands but I did think it was lovely for little princesses. I'm just completely converted to marshmallows now, I'll take a peek at your recipe and ideas.
what a fun idea and I want to come to your house for Easter! My that food looks amazing
I can only take credit for eating it 🙂 My friends are great cooks though 🙂
That is adorable! I have never tried a peep. Ever! Maybe this will be the year. 😉
I am the biggest kid & most probably would have embarrassed them all by having the most fun, especially with such a fun theme, and who could resist all those gorgeous noshes!
Happy Easter! Love this post. too cute!
Such cute pics!
Wonderful pictures, looks like you had a lot of fun:-)
What a fabulous get together!! The food looks amazing and festive. I think I need to move to Santa Barbara ; 0 )
My favorite fillings for baskets are any kind of summer toys. Also love new bathing suits, personalized towels, flip flops and fun sunscreen. I have boys, so I used to fill the eggs with little green army men or Lego people.
Hehe, your Easter parties are definitely more glamourous than what we have at home!! We just do the usual easter egg hunt with stuff bought from the dollar store and recycled year after year! We always manage to have fun, but maybe it's time to up the Easter ante this year! LOL!
Adorable ideas and yummy food! Hope you have a wonderful Easter!
I love the peeps race!!! So cute and fun 🙂 We opted for croquet at our house!
Everything looks fabulous! Hope you had a great Easter!
What an awesome idea for the kids! The strata and the salad look amazing, especially the strata…recipe? 🙂
