Let’s get into the Halloween spirit by creating You’ve Been Booed gift bags!

What is the “You’ve Been Booed” Tradition?

“You’ve Been Booed” is a delightful Halloween tradition that involves surprising your friends, family, or neighbors with a “Boo” basket or bag full of treats, goodies, and festive decorations. The idea behind this activity is to spread Halloween cheer and create a sense of community by anonymously gifting your chosen recipients with a Halloween-themed surprise.

The core concept of “You’ve Been Booed” includes a note or poem instructing the recipient to continue the fun by “Booing” others. This chain reaction of “Booing” adds an element of excitement to the Halloween season.

How to “Boo” Someone

1. Prepare Your “Boo” Package
Gather your chosen items and create a festive, Halloween-themed package. We bought our brown paper bags, tissue paper, and goodies at Michael’s

2. Print the “You’ve Been Booed” Note
Include a copy of a “You’ve Been Booed” note, which can be found in the links below. These notes explain what the treats are all about.

3. Deliver the Surprise
Anonymously leave your “Boo” package on the doorstep of the recipient, ring the bell, and quickly hide to witness their reaction. We recommend delivering in disguise.

4. Encourage Them to Continue
The poem will instruct the recipient to “Boo” other households. Encourage them to participate in the fun and maintain the Halloween spirit.

Rules of “You’ve Been Booed”

A free printable with you've been booed rules on a marble counter. There are a few traditional rules for this game to help this  Halloween tradition to run smoothly. However, we don’t believe in enforcing these rules. Having given and received boo packages in the past, we believe you should enjoy this game as you’d wish. Boo as many friends as you like!

1. Keep It Secret
Maintain the surprise by not revealing your identity when delivering the “Boo” package.

2. Boo Two More
Ensure the fun continues by asking the recipient to “Boo” two other households. This helps spread the joy throughout the neighborhood.

3. Display the Sign
Once “Booed,” proudly display a “We’ve Been Booed” sign in your window or on your door to let others know you’ve already received a treat.

What Do You Put in Your You’ve Been Booed Gift?

Cute pumpkin cupcakes with white fondant pumpkins are perfect for Halloween.

The contents of your “You’ve Been Booed” package are limited only by your creativity. Here are some ideas to consider:

1. Candies and Treats: Halloween-themed candies, chocolates, or other sweet treats like Pumpkin Cupcakes.

2. Craft Supplies: Include items like stickers, colored pencils, or small craft projects to keep kids entertained.

3. Halloween Decor: Spooky decorations, mini pumpkins, pumpkin-scented candles, or glow-in-the-dark items can add a festive touch.

4. Homemade Goods: Bake or craft something unique, like homemade cookies, candles, or soaps.

5. Themed Gifts: Tailor your package to your recipients’ interests, whether it’s a movie night theme, a book-lover’s package, coffee and cookies, a pet lover’s theme, or something else entirely.

Remember, the key is to have fun and spread the Halloween spirit!
