Best iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch Apps for Kids
http://www.stumbleupon.com/hostedbadge.php?s=1&r=https://www.yummymummykitchen.com/2011/12/best-ipad-iphone-ipod-touch-apps-for.html#comment-formLately the girls and I have come across some really amazing apps for iPads and iPhones. I don’t know about you, but I use apps daily. Epicurious is my go-to for recipes. The kids’ apps are life-savers while out and about to tame tantrums and whining. And traveling? These apps make plane rides and road trips painless. I’ve listed my top 5 educational apps for kids below. No flying birds here 🙂
My #1 Pick: Looking Glass Children’s Videos
Both my girls (ages 21 months and 4 years) love this. I love it because it’s educational and interesting.
Looking Glass Children’s Videos features original 3-5 minute videos for kids 2-8 that lets them learn about hundreds of topics, from cupcakes to hot air balloons to tow trucks and more. All of their content is designed to be fun, informational, and engaging, and they work hand-in-hand with a noted psychologist to ensure that everything about their videos – from their length to the topics to how the information is presented – is done with children in mind.
Looking Glass delivers 3 high-quality, new videos every week to your iTunes account for a monthly subscription of $3.99. The interface is simple and kid-friendly, with the library of videos serving as a safe environment that kids can explore on their own.

#2 Tozzle Puzzles for ToddlersÂ
Animated puzzles. Great for 2-4 year olds.Â
#3 Peekaboo: Ladybird Baby Touch
A bright, interactive peekaboo game for babies from six months, based on Ladybird’s best-selling Baby Touch books. My littlest loved this from about 9 months through 15 months.
#4 abc PocketPhonics: letter sounds & writing
This app makes learning the basics of reading and writing fun for preschoolers.
   Â
#5 Cupcakes!Â
While this isn’t as educational as the first 4 on my list, it is entertaining and fun for kids to bake and decorate cupcakes.

Marina, thank you so much for posting this. Avery, will enjoy everything…so won't mom =))
This is such a great post…we are about to embark on an 8hr road trip with our 22 month old and need some fun distractions!!
Love the Looking Glass App!
Great suggestions – will definitely have a peek. Have been trying to find apps that are “toddler friendly” and that will keep Miss Ava interested for more than 5!
Right now – the talking back Giraffe/Dog/Cat do an ok job – just long enough for me to get dressed. 😮
thanks for the info.. i am going to check it out too..
My mom has the cupcake app on her iphone. I as playing around on it the other day, it was pretty fun!
I nanny for a 2 yr old, so I love learning about new apps! And that cupcake one is a fave of ours, because sometimes you just need something fun.
I love this post. Its kinda of hard to appropriate app for kids. My son is stuck on Angry Birds. He loves it so much i had to buy him a t-shirt with the logo. I am following you back via GFC and G+ also on Twitter.
Great post and I needed it as I need as many apps as possible to keep little man happy when we are in certain places and situations! LOL!
Those are so gorgeous! I love that they are not too pricey either, great for new years. My Indigo would love them too.
Loved this post!! I just go an iPhone and am always on the lookout for a cool app. 🙂
Awesome! Thanks for sharing these! My kids (ages 10, 8 and 7) would loooove Epicurious! I love that they love to learn. And my daughter (the one sandwiched in b/w two brothers, poor thing) is my little baker. If I let her play the cupcake app, I'd be the “best mom ever”!
And obviously I'm tired. I meant to say The Looking Glass videos.
Yes. Its been that kind of day. 😉 I should really go to bed…but I'll probably stay here a bit longer and look around. Haha.
Great recommendations! I am hoping that most of these applications can be found for the droid too! I know for sure the cupcake one is, my kids love that game!
I love this post!! Thanks you 🙂
Great list! I'm going to download the Tozzle Puzzle app right now. Thanks! 🙂
